Bolivia hopes to sign deals with Acron, Gazprom in several weeks

MEXICO CITY, Jul 15 (PRIME) -- Bolivian oil and gas company YPFB and Russian fertilizer producer Acron can agree to create a BORUS joint venture, where YPFB will have 49%, to produce and sell fertilizers in Brazil, the Ministry of Hydrocarbons of Bolivia said in a statement July 13.

Acron plans to buy a fertilizer plant with a capacity of 1.2 million tonnes of urea per year from Brasil’s Petrobras, in which YPFB will hold 12% with a possibility of rising it to 30%. The companies will invest U.S. $2 billion in the plant which will be launched in 2023.

Russian gas giant Gazprom is to become an operator in Bolivia and invest $1.1 billion in the Vitiaqua field, which will be launched in 2028.

“We have finished negotiations for Gazprom to be an operator in Bolivia,” the ministry said citing Minister Luis Sanchez.
